EFFECT OF AGGREGATE PROPERTIES ON THE STRENGTH AND DEFORMATION OF CONCRETE

A comparative study was made of the influence of the properties of coarse aggregates and the use of commonly used aggregates, such as limestone and sandstone, on the compressive strength and deformation of concrete under sustained loading (a) by keeping all other quantities constant and (b) by adjusting the water-cement ratio to give constant workability. The results are of significance in the design of prestressed concrete, continuous beams, and slender compressed reinforced concrete members. /TRRL/
