Principle Analysis and State Evaluation on Coordinated Development among Transportation Modes

Based on the viewpoint of system theory and synergetics, this paper advocates the coordinated development among transportation modes and cooperation among modes. According to the component of every transportation mode, an index system was built up from quantity and quality aspects, and principal component analysis was used to evaluate the development level of every mode from 1995–2005. Then the model of degree of membership was established to evaluate the coordinated state among modes. The results indicate that the average static coordinated degree is 0.298, and that all modes develop quickly, but their developments are not coordinated. The ways to change the situation are to develop a united development plan, combine policies, and exploit and use all modes fully, building a true comprehensive transportation hub and so on.
