How supply chain resilience is achieved in SMEs of Dubai, UAE? Considering the flexible supply chain practices as a mediator

This study explores the role of supply chain design (SCD), supply chain collaboration, and supply chain risk in achieving supply chain resilience in manufacturing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai. The 323 responses received were analysed through structural equation modelling using SmartPLS 3.0 software. The findings indicate that SCD, collaboration, and risk management enhance supply chain resilience in manufacturing SMEs in Dubai. The flexible practices of the supply chain, with its constituent dimensions of information sharing and postponement extent, are not significant for any examined relationship. Furthermore, the mediating effect is positive but not strong for all the intervening relationships. The study has practical implications for shaping corporate policy for manufacturing SMEs. Relevant management and policymakers can use the findings to consider effective designs of a collaborative system of supply chain and supply chain risk management in achieving supply chain resilience.
