ENFORCEMENT STRATEGY
Enforcement is a crucial factor in many road safety counter-measures. The philosophy underlying traffic law enforcement is that compliance with traffic regulations will effect the safe and efficient movement of all road users. The effectiveness of law enforcement is open to question owing to the problems experienced in the evaluation of such and the many unknown variable factors which may influence research projects. This paper deals with causative factors of road crashes, the problems of enforcement, an outline of research undertaken into enforcement and possible remedial action.
