BUS PASSENGER ACCIDENTS ANALYZED WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON OLD AGE AND OTHER DISABILITIES

Analysis of 127 casualties among bus passengers showed that in a mixed urban and rural district this is mainly a problem for elderly people on urban buses. Most injuries were minor, only 17% needing Hospital admission. By interview of 63 cases, it was shown that a majority were acquired by falling when buses decelerated and on entering or leaving the bus. Injuries were often produced by the money changer or getting squeezed in closing doors.
