PROCURING EQUIPMENT ITEMS THAT MEET R (RELIABILITY), M (MAINTAINABILITY) AND SS (SYSTEM SAFETY) REQUIREMENTS
For successful procurement of hardware items with reliability, maintainability, and system safety requirements, a consistent, disciplined use of several items is required by the system contractor. These include precise specification of the procurement, a comprehensive statement of work, and a data requirements list. These items must be cross-correlated. Clear distinctions among tasks to be accomplished, design requirements, and data items to be prepared are essential. System contractors must provide suppliers with as much information as possible concerning performance expectations of their products.
