VARIOUS SIZE EFFECTS IN FRACTURE OF CONCRETE
The paper reports the results of a series of three-point bend tests on pre-cracked cement mortar and concrete beams. The tests are performed with a view to studying the influence of pre-crack, aggregate and specimen sizes on the fracture of concrete. A simple formula based on the experimental data is proposed to account for all the three size dependent effects. Other parameters having a significant influence on the fracture of concrete are also pointed out. (TRRL)
