THE MICROPROCESSOR HAS ARRIVED IN THE SIGNAL AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY OF THE GERMAN FEDERAL RAILWAY

The technology of the signalling and telecommunications of the railways is about to be revolutionized. Microelectronics, which is radically changing industrial control engineering, is entering many fields of railway technology. The introduction of microprocessors by DB, was a logical extension of this trend. A few examples will serve to show the practical fields of railway operation where this new building brick can already be usefully employed.
