LYONS METRO

Since the metro was opened to the public in Lyons on 2 May 1978, traffic has risen constantly beyond all expectations and the city centre has been rejuvenated as a consequence. The network, which is 15.5 km long, consists of 3 lines and 24 stations. The new operating system adopted in Lyons (simplified fares structure, interchange at no extra cost, reorganisation of surface transport) has completely changed the image of public transport there. More passengers use public transport; it has become attractive to motorists, employed people, etc.
