MODEL INVESTIGATION OF STEEL BOX SPANS
This paper presents the results of experimental studies, the aim of which was to determine the limiting load carrying capacities and the forms of stability loss found in box spans. The studies were conducted for four schemes of loading on 12 models of such spans made of sheet brass. Relationships between the schemes of loading and the local forms of stability loss were found. Moreover, the load capacity of such spans was to be greatly dependent on the deck stiffness and the character of the load. (Author/TRRL)
