MODEL STUDIES ON MULTI-CELL STRUCTURES
An experimental study of the elastic behaviour of a multi-cell structure is described. Two perspex models, one with solid webs and the other with web openings, are subjected to concentrated loads applied at different locations. Results from analytical solutions using grillage technique and finite element method are compared with the experimental values of deflexions and flange edge stresses. Comparison of the results establish the accuracy of the grillage method. (Author/TRRL)
