AXLE LOAD MEASUREMENTS WITH A VIBRACOAX-SENSOR
ASLASTMETINGEN MET EEN VIBRACOAX-OPNEMER
In connection with research into alternative methods for dynamic axle load measurements a test with three vibracoax-sensors -each two metres in length -was carried out. One sensor was installed in the flexible pavement and was therefore integrated with the pavement. Due to the fact that the behaviour of the sensor depended too much on the pavement construction and to the fact that the signals couldn't be processed the measurement results were unusable. However the results with the second vibracoax-sensor placed in rubber showed promise. The third sensor was placed in a rubber mat, which unfortunately came loose during a night with heavy rainfall. Therefore not enough signals were registered. Further research, especially with the sensor in the rubber mat, is recommended. (TRRL)
