DUO-PANEL LIGHT DISTRIBUTION TECHNIQUES FOR USE IN SHIPBOARD CONTROL AND INDICATING EQUIPMENTS

Principles and practices in the application of the Duo-Panel light distribution technique to the design of control and indicating equipments of ships and other military and weapons control systems are described. Design principles rather than contemporary design detail are emphasized. The bibliography includes a number of references in the field of practical design and in the evaluation of illuminated displays. Appendix B includes work sheets for the computation of the dark adaptation figures of merit 'cone-to-rod ratio' from spectral distribution data on the basis of the latest internation (CIE) standards for photopic and scotopic vision. Also included is a sample specification potential applicable to a variety of shipboard systems and other indicating, monitoring, and control equipments. (Author)
