Applying the Health Belief Model to Mobile Device Distracted Driving
The Health Belief Model (HBM) is a theory that discusses the likelihood of adopting a desired health behavior based on personal beliefs in a threat and how the health behavior could reduce that threat. In this study, a survey of 2,013 drivers was conducted to examine HBM concepts as applied to mobile devices, distraction, and driving. The survey collected responses on attitudes around distracted driving, support for countermeasures, and barriers to driving without using cellphones.
