DRIVERS VISUAL INFORMATION ACQUISITION: THE INTERACTION OF RELEVANT AND IRRELEVANT INFORMATION

The purpose of this study was: (1) to increase knowledge about the driver's information acquisition, and orientation and selectivity of attention and perception; (2) to investigate research methods, and to develop and test a simulation method to study perception in different kinds of traffic environments; and, (3) to produce applicable knowledge for planning traffic environment and especially traffic control. The report is a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Technology. (TRRL)
