COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

A comparison of traffic management measures in a few developing county cities identifies reasons for their success and failure and suggests gudielines for such programs. Key factors are geography, public transportation alternatives, distribution of people and jobs, reasonableness of the traffic management strategy, and the willingness of government to support and enforce the plan and adapt it to changing needs. A systematic tool for post implementation evaluation is needed.
