PROTECTION OF STEEL STRUCTURES IN TRAFFIC TUNNELS AGAINST CORROSION
KORROSIONSSCHUTZMASSNAHMEN BEI VERKEHRSTUNNELN AUS STAHL
Steel structures in vehicular tunnels are generally expected to have a life of 100 years approximately in Germany. The large surface area of steel in contact with soil calls for an efficient long-term protection against corrosion in order to preserve the functional performance of the tunnel. Active and passive measures of protection against corrosion are suggested on the background of particular conditions to which steel in natural soil is subjected.
