TRANSPORT IN AREAS OF LOW DEMAND
IL TRASPORTO NELLE AREE A DOMANDA DEBOLE.
According to the last census 19.6% of Italy's population live in communities of less than 5000 inhabitants, and 11% in communities of less than 3000 inhabitants, where the demand for transport is too small to sustain regular services. Thus the problem becomes one of providing transport links with larger centres. Separate chapters in this paper deal with: mobility and accessibility; organisation policies -modes and types of route; responsible bodies; criteria to be applied; the question of demand; and institutional problems.
