METHODOLOGY FOR THE DESIGN OF BITUMINOUS ROADS
This paper describes the development of a set of standard design curves for roads with bituminous, lean concrete and wet-mix roadbases and shows how they may be adapted to incorporate improved materials. Drawing on a recent TRRL report "The Structural Design of Bituminous Roads" LR 1132 (1984), it endeavours to demonstrate the benefits of using structural theory to interpret observations from road experiments, and explores some of the problems.
