FSBs with Stainless Steel Strands and GFRP Shear Reinforcement

The objectives of this project are as follows: (1) to demonstrate the use of stainless-steel strands in Florida Slab Beams (FSBs) and to verify the strand and beam behavior through testing; (2) to characterize the performance of prestressed girders using a higher initial stress at 70% of ASTM A1114 stainless-steel strands ultimate stress through fabricating and load testing full-scale specimens; (3) to verify and/or recommend revisions to design guidelines for the use of stainless-steel strands in FSBs; (4) to demonstrate the use of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) rebars as combined transverse shear and interface shear reinforcement in FSBs; and (5) to develop standard details for FSBs using GFRP shear/interface rebars.
