ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE HOLLOW BEAMS WITH STIRRUPS UNDER COMBINED BENDING AND TORSION

Tests were made on prestressed concrete hollow beams under combined bending and torsion, to study the behaviour and ultimate strength. All the beams were of the same dimensions and reinforced with closed stirrups. Some of the beams were concentrically prestressed, others were eccentrically prestressed. The main variable was the ratio of bending to torsion, which was kept constant until failure. Expressions for the ultimate strength were made for all the beams. The expression to be used depends on the ratio of bending to torsion which in turn determines the mode of failure. The number of the covering abstract for the conference is TRIS no 394142.
