BOND STRENGTH OF DEFORMED BARS IN TENSION
It is shown that a theoretical lower bound to bond strength agrees with an ACI committee's code proposal. It is suggested that Australian standard 1480 Anchorage provisions are not adequate and that new provisions should be used in the unified concrete structures code. The influence of transverse reinforcement is discussed and reasons for the apparent lack of failures, due to the use of inadequate provisions in as 1480, are given. The paper includes recommendations for new code provisions. The number of the covering abstract for the conference TRIS no 394142. (Author/TRRL)
