DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF SIGNALISED INTERSECTIONS
Traffic signals are being used extensively for traffic control at signalized intersections on urban road systems. Traffic flow characteristics on roads in urban areas demand a systematic and scientific study of the factors affecting design and performance of traffic signals for achieving optimum efficiency. This study deals with some of the factors such as delays to traffic, percentage of vehicles stopped, load factor, peak hour factor, degree of saturation studied, in relation to the level of service, based upon the field studies carried out on a few approaches to signalized intersections in Delhi Urban Area. /Author/
