POLICIES, GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES FOR TRAFFIC GENERATING DEVELOPMENTS

The traffic authority of New South Wales is responsible for the safe and efficient use of the state's urban and rural roads. It is therefore interested in those developments which generate substantial volumes of traffic, the impacts of this traffic on the safety and efficiency of the road system, the proposed means of access for such developments and the resultant need for additional traffic facilities and road improvements. The authority provides expert advice on these matters with the express purpose of ensuring that adequate provision is made for the safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic within and contiguous to the proposed development. This manual has been prepared to assist councils and others in the traffic planning and design aspects of new developments and redevelopments. It supersedes the authority's previous publication dealing with traffic generating developments and consultation thereon. The manual has been produced in parts to facilitate periodic revisions and additions. (TRRL)
