SAFETY BELTS: THEIR FITTING AND USE

This 1968/69 investigation ascertains the extent to which various types of safety belts. The investigation encourage the proper use of safety belts. The investigation was conducted via random sample inquires, visual observation of road traffic, interviews of road users on the roads and at stopping points. Detailed results are given in tables. 8.5% of all passenger car drivers interviewed used safety belts. The diagonal belt has the best fit, but least use. More widespread use of belts requires their being more attractive and/or of more convenient use. A repetition of the investigation is advised and planned.
