ADAPTIVE CONTINUOUS CONVEYOR FEED SYSTEM FOR ASSEMBLY AND PACKAGING PROCESSES
A microprocessor controlled d.c. motor drive for a conveyor feed system allows components to be continuously fed into an automatic packaging or assembly workstation such that synchronisation with an external work handling unit is ensured. The system ensures that components from a production process that are transferred at variable intervals on a constant velocity conveyor may be positionally adjusted using an adaptive digital servo prior to reaching the workstation. The use of a digital servo unit enables positional correction of the moving product to be made at a controlled rate and allows ease of synchronisation with any general system time base generator. Complete flexibility is offered with regard to the range of products handled.
