Effects of Six Recent Earthquakes on Railroads
The six earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.8 to 8.4 that damaged railroads in the 23 month period from August of 1999 through June of 2001 illustrate the effects of strong-to-great earthquakes. The locations of earthquake epicenters, indicated by stars, and railroads in the affected areas are shown in Figures 1 and 2.
