PARK-AND-POOL LOTS IN THE FORT WORTH AREA: AN ANALYSIS OF SURVEY DATA
The increasing cost of commuting has resulted in more acceptance of ridesharing by the traveling public as a viable mode of transportation. The purpose of this research effort was to investigate Park-and-Go/Park-and-Pool activity in the Fort Worth area and to formulate planning guidelines for assessing the user characteristics and resulting transportation benefits from these types of mode change facilities. Thirty seven sites were selected for study. The user surveys resulted in the indentification of personal characteristics and travel behavior of commuters engaged in pooling activity. This report presents the results of this data collection effort and compares those findings with previous rideshare studies conducted in the Fort Worth/Dallas area.
