ECONOMIC SIGNIFICANCE OF THE TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE. A LITERATURE REVIEW CONCERNING RESEARCH METHODS
ECONOMISCHE BETEKENIS VAN TRANSPORT-INFRASTRUCTUUR. EEN LITERATUURSTUDIE OMTRENT ONDERZOEKSMETHODEN
The economic deficiencies of the northern part of the Netherlands are mainly explained by its peripheral location with respect to the great economic centres in the western part of Holland. By improving the transport infrastructure this location and especially its perception can be improved. The main purpose of this literature review is to study whether possibilities signalized in the literature can be applied in the northern part to determine the effect of improvements in the transport infrastructure on the regional social economic developments. It is concluded that none of the studied methods can be applied to calculate the social economic effect due to the scarcity of data. (TRRL)
