ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON GROUND WITH LOW BEARING CAPACITY

This report gives a total view of the different methods of construction of roads on ground with low bearing capacity in the Nordic coontries. The different problems that may arise during the construction period are discussed as well as the method of construction to be used. The report points out the importance of proper ground-material testing. It is further pointed out that even smaller adjustments of the geometric road centre-line can be of great importance to the quality of the road to be constructed. The choice of construction method will depend on the required time for the particular method, and this matter should be carefully considered beforehand. The different methods of construction are described with special regard to economy and experience. A list of publications has been added to the description of each construction method. (Author/TRRL)
