The aim of the report is to describe how people in urban areas experience the nuisance of mixed traffic, especially the barrier effect, depending on factors such as: (a) road and traffic (width of road, traffic flow, speeds); (B) buildings (type, distance); (c) residents (age, sex). The effect of the traffic on people's movement pattern (walking from the residence) is also investigated. (TRRL)
