METHODS FOR CALCULATING THE EFFECTS OF PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON CAR TRAVELLERS
METODER FOER BERAEKNING AV BILISTERS BETEENDE VID PARKERINGSRESTRIKTIONER
THIS REPORT STUDIES TRAVELLING BY CAR TO THE TOWN CENTRE AND THE TRAVELLER'S ALTERNATIVES OF BEHAVIOUR IN THE CASE OF INCREASED GENERALISED TRAVELLING COSTS (TIME, MONEY, DISCOMFORT) CAUSED BY PARKING RESTRICTIONS. THREE DIFFERENT MODELS WHICH CAN BE USED TO DESCRIBE THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT PARKING REGULATIONS ON CAR TRAFFIC, ARE PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED: 1. REGRESSION ANALYSIS. DIRECT CONNECTIONS BETWEEN TRAFFIC VOLUMES ON MACRO LEVEL AND PARKING VOLUMES. 2. DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS. THE INDIVIDUAL'S GENERALISED COST FUNCTION. 3. AN EXPANDED GRAVITY MODEL. SEVERAL TRAVEL MODES EXPANDED RESISTANCE FUNCTION. A DISCUSSION OF PRACTICAL PROBLEMS CONNECTED WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF PARKING RESTRICTIONS IS INCLUDED, SUCH AS, THROUGH TRAFFIC, CONTROL AND SUPERVISION, INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE. /TRRL/
