ESTIMATION OF STANDARD AXLES FOR HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE
Estimates of both past and future traffic are required for the design of strengthening treatments to be used in structural maintenance. The paper describes general sources of data on past traffic and the recommended method by which estimates of past and future traffic at a particular location may be made. Careful interpretation of the data and application of the method gives estimates that will usually be satisfactory for the timing and design of strengthening treatments.
