TRAFFIC AND DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURES
This paper reports on the present position on the collection and manipulation of data for highway maintenance. Data are divided into four classifications, and some systems for collecting the type of data described are outlined. Attention is drawn to the fact that collection and manipulation of data must be cost effective. The Department of Transport proposals far data manipulation are outlined, as are the recommendations of the joint study by the local authorities of highway maintenance. For the covering abstract of the symposium see TRIS 396069. (TRRL)
