REDUCING COAL TRANSPORTATION COSTS THROUGH THE USE OF AUTHORIZED MOTOR CARRIES

The use of truck transportation of coal is no longer limited to short distances or limited quantities. Various factors have combined in recent years to permit motor carriers to compete more effectively with rail or barge transportation. In addition, shippers now have greater opportunities to negotiate competitive rates with motor carriers. These changes and improvements in the truck transportation of coal should benefit not only motor carriers but also coal suppliers, coal users and all others associated with the coal industry.
