PEDESTRIAN SAFETY PROGRAMME: A SUMMARY REPORT

This report describes the application of methods designed to plan and test an integrated pedestrian safety programme in a selected community. Most of the studies were carried out in Daveyton. Methods of law enforcement, education and engineering are described. It was found that the incidence of pedestrian accidents can be significantly reduced if elements of law enforcement, education and engineering measures are applied in an integrated programme. The planning of a pedestrian safety programme is described in the recommendations. (Author/TRRL)
