HIGHWAY AND URBAN HYDROLOGY IN THE TROPICS

The first four chapters of this book discuss tropical rainfall on a regional basis, and in terms of rainfall at a point and its variation with space and time. Storm profiles used in sophisticated modern methods of run-off calculation are considered. The next three chapters deal with the hydrology of natural catchments for bridge and culvert design, and with the design of the structures themselves. The next chapter outlines methods of urban storm sewer design, suggesting those that seem particularly appropriate for tropical regions. The final two chapters discuss the drainage of the highway itself, and roadside erosions, which is a particularly acute problem in tropical areas. (TRRL)
