STABILITY ANALYSIS OF EARTH SLOPES

This book shows how to design a safe slope, correct an unsafe slope, and assess remedial measures taken on existing slopes. All the necessary critical data is furnished for analysing both plane and cylindrical failures, including detailed procedures for determining the safety factor for each, for either homogeneous or nonhomogeneous slopes. Two computer programs (SWASE and REAME) developed for the analysis of plane and cylindrical failures respectively, are fully explained. The book also covers the Fellenius and simplified Bishop methods, the friction circle, logarithmic spiral, earth pressure, finite element and probabilistic methods, as well as methods of slices.
