AIRPORT LAND USE PLANNING HANDBOOK - A REFERENCE AND GUIDE FOR LOCAL AGENCIES
The handbook was prepared to provide technical and other guidance to airport land use commissions (ALUCs) which was established under California law for improving plans and to cities and counties in achieving consistency between the ALUC plans and their own general plans. The handbook addresses three critical land use planning concerns: (1) Compatibility of surrounding land uses with respect to airport noise levels, (2) Compatibility of surrounding land uses in terms of exposure of persons on the ground to crash hazards associated with aircraft and (3) The need for appropriate height restrictions to protect the airspace used by aircraft.
