TRUCK SAFETY
This is a hearing on the general subject of truck safety, with statements from the assistant public utility commissioner of Oregon, the senior vice-president of Roadway Express Inc, the state highway engineer, Oregon Department of Transportation, the Council of Safety Supervisors, Oregon Trucking Association, the president of the Oregon Forest Products Transportation Association, and finally a statement from the New York State Department of Transportation. These statements cover the Oregon Safety Compliance Program, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, the safety experience with double and triple combinations, the safety impact of Federal deregulation, securing cargo and the need for national standards for licensing of truck drivers.
