STREET LIGHTING REDUCTION. ACCIDENT AND ECONOMICS
SAMLADE FAKTA OM SAMBANDET MELLAN VAEGBELYSNING, OLYCKOR OCH EKONOMI. FAKTAUNDERLAG OCH BERAEKNINGAR. TRAFIKOLYCKSTABELL
This report examines if accidents increase when street lighting is reduced. Statistics which describe the influence of time of day, month and location on accident rate are presented. According to these tables accidents have increased when street lighting has been reduced. A model for calculating accident costs is described. The increase in accident cost is then compared with the reduction in energy costs. (TRRL)
