GENERAL PHYSICAL AND STRUCTURAL PROPERTIES OF ROCKS
OPSTA FIZICKO-STRUKTURNA SVOJSTVA STENSKIH MASA
The paper discusses the cracking, heterogeneity, anisotropy and natural stress of rocks together with the interpretation of these properties in civil engineering design. Description and causes of some phenomena are given, and the possibilities of graphical and numerical representation of the latter and their influence in civil engineering design are mentioned. Natural stress is observed through natural rock stress. A theoretical approach to natural stress quantification according to Heim and Terzaghi is described and in situ measurements are performed.
