SETTLEMENT OF RECLAIMED LAND ON THICK DEPOSIT OF MARINE CLAYS

A finite-strain theory of one-dimensional consolidation was applied to a practical problem of a thick marine clay stratum being loaded by a reclaimed land. The analysis method described in this work is an extension of the theory used by Gibson et al, but the method incorporates the e-log p relationship of soil compressibility. A comparison was made between the theoretical predictions and the field measurements, and the comparison between the two showed encouraging results. (Author/TRRL)
