MANAGEMENT GOES PUBLIC
Little by little, the management techniques of private industry are making their way into public construction. An exclusive ROADS survey of the largest bridge engineers and contractors shows that specialized techniques, once employed solely for private buildings (e.g. design/build, construction management, value engineering), are being used extensively in bridge delivery. Coordinately, as cracks develop in the traditional process of design/bid, the role of marketing is being perceived as increasingly important. (Author)
