ZUIDVLEUGEL STUDY, APPLICATION OF A MAJOR TRANSPORTATION STUDY IN THE NETHERLANDS

This article gives an overview of the development and application of the travel demand models for a major transportation study in the Western part of the Randstad conurbation of the Netherlands. The study is known as the Zuidvleugel Study (the "South wing" study). This article will give a short review of the aims of the study and of the development of the demand models. Current model development for the Dienst Verkeerskunde is specifically designed to develop policy analysis methods for forecasting traffic flows for strategic studies on the one hand, and for predicting the transport effects of general policy measures (i.e., policies less specific to location) on the other hand.
