SPECING BUS WASHERS
Orange County Transit District has determined that reliability, performance and maintenance must be integral components of the specification/bid process for automated bus washers. OCTD has six such systems that clean almost 300 buses daily and have the capacity for long-term growth of the fleet. After its initial washer installations, OCTD determined it should go directly to equipment manufacturers to determine that it specify exactly what capabilities are to be incorporated in its specifications. It now requires that full documentation and a maintenance program with instructions also be an integral feature of each washer system.
