A STREET MANAGEMENT DATA BASE FOR CHRISTCHURCH

This paper describes a data base designed to store and retrieve data related to street management. Basic storage units of the system are street sections which usually extend from intersection to intersection. Where necessary street sections can be divided into shorter lengths. The information stored on the data file is freely adaptable to suit the users needs. There are eight data types available. As all data is stored in numeric form, the files are compact and the system is capable of being set up on a large personal computer. Access to data for examination or alteration is by vdu, although file initialisation data collection is done on a batch basis. Several basic types of reports may be prepared. The subject matter of a report, ie, the data elements to be reported on, is defined by the user. (Author/TRRL)
