THE INFLUENCE OF AGGREGATE QUALITY ON THE WEAR RESISTANCE OF SINGLE SURFACE DRESSINGS - A TEST SURFACE INVESTIGATION ON ROAD E4 NEAR STAVSJOE 1979

Test surfacings in the form of a single surface dressing with nine aggregates of differing quality have been studied for a period of two years under heavy traffic. The flakiness of two of the aggregates was also varied. The surface texture depth change has been monitored and used as a measure of the wear resistance. The relationships between the wear resistance and the results from aggregate testings (Swedish abrasion and impact values) have been studied. (Author/TRRL)
