FRENCH METRO EXPORTS: ROLLING STOCK DEVELOPMENTS
The article reviews developments in R.A.T.P. rolling-stock design since 1950, with particular reference to rubber-tyred vehicles, aluminum construction, chopper control and automation. The author then discusses the export market for this technology, quating as examples the metro systems in Montreal, Mexico City, Santiago, Cairo and Caracas, which have been developed with technical assistance from the R.A.T.P. project-management subsidiary, SOFRETU.
