M1 84 INTERCONNECTION ROLLING STOCK
This article describes the features of the new rolling stock, known as the M1 84 series, allocated to Line A of the RER network. Developed from the M 1 79 rolling stock, described in the January 1982 issue of the RGCF, the M1 84 series will enable the SNCF and the RATP networks to be interlinked in the west of Paris, in connection with services on the Cergy Pontoise branch. In this article details are also given of the negotiations that led to the construction of M1 84 rolling stock, the new technological features incorporated and the pricipal phases in the research carried out to perfect the prototype train.
